Alla Sviridenko

Alla Sviridenko - artist, designer, educator, working with batik and silk painting techniques.

Alla’s major creative activities are fine arts, and interior and fashion designs.

It took some time for Alla Sviridenko to approach the art of batik. Her first profession was architecture, the second - teaching. She teaches at the College of Fine Arts in Minsk. Initially, batik was only a hobby for Alla, but in the process of exploring possibilities of technical expression, batik has become her major creative occupation. In this technique Alla found the optimal form of artistic expression for this moment. She appreciates the fact that in silk painting there is always room for improvisation.  Batik technique allows not only formal - decorative  tasks but also emotional - visual tasks. In her works, Alla synthesizes tradition and avant-garde, Eastern and Western aesthetics. But most of all her works are a reflection of the artist's spirit, the spirit of cosmopolitanism in intelligent harmony with sincere affection for her home traditions.

Alla lives in Minsk. She is a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists and the Designers’ Union, and is also a member of a number of creative batik and silk painting artists' associations in the UK , Germany, France and the USA. Alla presides over the International Batik Club, which includes well known Belarusian, Russian and Western European artists.

She has participated in numerous exhibitions in the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Poland, Lithuania and Belarus. In 2007, she won the third prize in the international project "Kimono" in France.
